U.S. Takes Additional Economic Steps Against China

During the week of August 3, the Trump administration took additional steps to address perceived national security threats from China through the use of economic measures.

In succession, it imposed targeted sanctions on additional Hong Kong and Chinese officials responsible for imposing China’s new national security law in Hong Kong and issued Executive Orders directing the Commerce Secretary to identify prohibited transactions with certain Chinese technology companies.
